Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Akagera for big game tour
Leave your hotel for Akagera National Park Rwanda’s only savanna park where the big 5 game are found. You will start your journey early, taking 2 and half hours’ drive and you will arrive early, enjoy a game drive as you connect to your lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will be picked up at the lodge and transferred to where a boat cruise tour begins. A boat cruise takes 2 to 3 hours, and you will come across the swimming hippos, crocodiles and aquatic birds.

Day 2: Game drive & Travel Back to Kigali
Following breakfast, set off for a game drive 2-3 hours. Akagera National Park -ANP Rwanda is 1122 sq. km and supports a variety of animal species in its diverse habitat. On a game drive, expect animal sightings such elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, leopards, lions, antelopes, zebras, giraffes and birds. Delicious lunch will be provided early and followed by check out, then you return to Kigali for relaxation at;

Day 3: Kigali to Nyungwe Forest by Road
Wake up early, enjoy delicious breakfast and you will be transferred to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The 6-7 hours’ drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park include a stopover visit at Huye/Butare to tour the Nyanza King’s palace, and other sites, followed by lunch. Next, check in at the lodge in Nyungwe Forest National Park, Southern Province of Rwanda.

Day 4: Nyungwe Forest Chimps & Canopy walking
Nyungwe Forest chimps trekking begins early after breakfast and briefing at Uwinka reception. A chimpanzee trek takes 2-4 hours and this is inclusive of 1 hour of a close encounter, exploring more about the daily behaviors of chimpanzees. Return and the afternoon will include lunch, and canopy walking for 2 hours. Nyungwe Forest canopy walking comes with incredible sightings of primates, birds and flora.

Day 5: Nyungwe to Volcanoes National Park
Transfer to Volcanoes National Park located in Ruhengeri. Ruhengeri lies in the Northern Province of Rwanda and connecting to Volcanoes Park from Nyungwe also allows you to view the scenic Lake Kivu.

Day 6: Volcanoes Game Park Gorillas & Cultural visit
Breakfast early, after, transfer to Volcanoes National Park offices (Kinigi) for a briefing about gorilla trekking rules and regulations. You will be assigned a gorilla family, and this park has 12 habituated gorilla groups to explore. Trekking to see gorilla takes from 2 to 6 hours and this includes one hour of a close encounter and photography. A cultural visit will follow in the evening, and you will be interacting with Rwandese/the former poachers.
